Entry is complimentary for both guests of Cradle Mountain Hotel and the public. Visitors are invited to donate towards the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program to assist research into the Devil Facial Tumour Disease.

The Gallery was built in 2002 by Doherty’s and officially opened by then Senator, Dr Bob Brown with Patricia Sabine as the inaugural curator. It was then purchased by Federal Hotels followed by RACT in 2014 and NRMA in 2021.
There is no cafe in the Gallery, however Altitude Restaurant and Lounge Bar at the Hotel offers a delicious array of food and refreshments and is only a two-minute walk away.

Yes, there are male, female and equal access toilets provided that can be accessed from the gallery atrium.
Yes, you can take photographs for your own use, unless there is signage indicating otherwise. If you are publishing photographs online or on social media it is important to credit the artist and the gallery. All artwork has copyright attached to it and cannot be reproduced without the permission of the artist.
In your excitement you’ve forgotten to pack something? don’t worry we’ve all done that. Lucky for you we stock hiking boots, hiking pants, jackets and more in our giftshop.
Yes, almost everything you see in the gallery is for sale or can be sourced by our friendly staff. Make sure to speak to the staff in the gift shop if you see something you like and they will be happy to assist you.
Yes, if you are traveling and want your artwork delivered to your home we can arrange this for you. We will source a quote for shipping and manage the wrapping and transportation, so you can enjoy the rest of your holiday and wait for your art to arrive. Please note: Postage is at an additional cost and can vairy greatly depending on size and weight.
Applications can be made through the Exhibition Call Out which is issued one year in advance. Information on our Exhibition Call Outs can be found on our Facebook and Instagram page. You can also stay up to date with future Exhibition Call Outs on our website and social media platforms.

The Wilderness Gallery is part of the Cradle Mountain Hotel property that is the first hotel you will see as you drive along Cradle Mountain Road. It is on the right hand side of the road and the gallery is directly opposite the hotel. See Google Map
From Hobart and southern Tasmania: take the Midlands Highway (1) through Campbell Town, turn left at Perth, then take the Bass Highway (1), turning left at Elizabeth Town to Sheffield, then turning off to Cradle Mountain.
From Launceston drive along the Bass Highway (1) via Deloraine, (turning off at Elizabeth Town to Sheffield), or from Devonport drive via Sheffield, then turning off to Cradle Mountain.
