News and stories from Cradle Mountain in Tasmania

There are so many activities and things to do at Cradle Mountain. Read on for a few of our favourites and to hear what's new at Cradle Mountain Hotel.

We're very happy to say that Altitude Restaurant + Lounge Bar at Cradle Mountain Hotel is complete and ready to welcome you.

We've been operational for a few weeks but finishing touches were being made but these are now in place and we're ready to show you Cradle Mountain's newest restaurant.

Altitude Restaurant

Formerly Grey Gum, Altitude Restaurant boasts the same striking view into the surrounding woodland but now feels cosier than ever, with raw timber, stylish furniture and modern textures.

One of the key features of the restaurant is a brand new show kitchen, with our all-star Chefs cooking meals to order for restaurant guests.  This is a big step towards our commitment to connect people with produce, allowing guests to speak with their Chef and learn about the origins of ingredients.

The 'Mountain Rock Experience' remains a highlight for many visitors, with premium Tasmanian produce being cooked on a 400° volcanic stone.  This method of cooking is not only interactive (and fun!) but sears the meats and seals the natural flavouns.

Altitude Lounge Bar

What could be better at the end of a day of exploring Cradle Mountain or touring Tassie, than kicking back by an open fire, reminiscing over the day's photographs and enjoying a glass of your favourite Tasmanian wine?  The relaxing atmosphere of Altitude Lounge Bar has been embraced by guests and visitors since we completed the renovation; the lounge is a place for connecting and sharing stories. A casual bar menu is offered in Altitude Lounge Bar, as well as an extensive drinks and cocktail list.  Of course, you'll also find our bartenders are ready to help you plan your adventures for the next day and provide tips for the road ahead.

As Cradle Mountain's newest dining option, Altitude Restaurant + Lounge Bar is open to all visitors to the Cradle Mountain Area, offering all-day dining, including superb options for groups and events.  Cradle Mountain Hotel offers guests and visitors free public WiFi as well as complimentary access to The Wilderness Gallery.

We look forward to hosting you on your next visit to Cradle Mountain, be it for a night, a meal or to relax by the fire and take it all in.
